Abstract
On July 20, the 2011 annual summer excursion for all employees of Yinhang Petrochemical once again took place as scheduled. At 4:30 a.m., all staff members, dressed in Yinhang’s signature blue T-shirts, lined up neatly in front of the headquarters. A large contingent—comprising sales personnel, production department staff, and office workers—was divided into six groups to participate in the outing. Departing from Daqing, the group traveled for more than seven hours before arriving at the picturesque Phoenix Mountain National Forest Park scenic area.
Phoenix Mountain is situated on the western slope of the Zhangguangcai Range within the Changbai Mountains, perched atop the “swan’s” belly. Covering a total area of 50,000 hectares, its main peak rises to an elevation of 1,675 meters. Here you’ll find the highest alpine garden in northern China, the largest canyon‑waterfall complex in Heilongjiang, the province’s most formidable gorge, and its most thrilling rafting experience. Renowned both at home and abroad since the 1994 “UFO” incident, the mountain boasts majestic peaks, crystal‑clear waters, and verdant ridges, earning it the celebrated reputation: “Every mountain, every rock is a painting; every step reveals a new vista, a world unto itself.”
“Rafting culture” is one of the traditions that has been passed down at Yinhang since the company’s inception. As soon as nearly a hundred rafts manned by Yinhang employees hit the water, they instantly transformed the Fenghuangshan Rafting Scenic Area into a vibrant highlight. The joy of rafting stems not only from the refreshing coolness of midsummer and the picturesque views along the banks, but also from the boundless excitement of teamwork and friendly competition. With its mix of gentle currents and thrilling rapids, rafting offers something for everyone, ensuring that all participants enjoy a leisurely yet exhilarating afternoon.
As night fell, the small village at the foot of Phoenix Mountain took on a special charm. After savoring hearty, authentically rustic farm meals, everyone gathered in Phoenix Square, where a carefully lit stage had been set up and a bonfire was kindled. Barbecue and fine wine accompanied a splendid evening show presented by the company’s employees—each one a hidden talent with exceptional vocal skills. The bonfire gathering instantly enlivened the resort, drawing hundreds of local residents and tourists alike. Particularly heartwarming was the company’s gesture: birthday cakes were prepared for employees celebrating their birthdays that month, and everyone joined in singing “Happy Birthday” and offering heartfelt wishes. The enthusiastic hosts danced and sang around the fire, while fireworks lit up the night sky over Phoenix Mountain. Local residents and fellow travelers, swept up in the festive atmosphere, eagerly took to the stage to perform songs in honor of the event. Upon hearing the joyful laughter and lively music emanating from Phoenix Square, reporters from China Report visited to interview the group, expressing great satisfaction at seeing such an enterprise so rich in humanistic spirit. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and the merriment lingered long into the night.
The next day, we set out to explore Phoenix Mountain National Forest Park and embark on a mountain-climbing adventure. Our guides led us through the grand canyon, up to the summit, where we marveled at the sea of rocks and cascading waterfalls, and quenched our thirst with crystal‑clear mountain spring water—scenes like these can be found in no fewer than a dozen spots across Phoenix Mountain, leaving us in awe of nature’s breathtaking artistry and prompting heartfelt reverence for the peak. Back at Phoenix Square at the foot of the mountain, we then took part in team‑based competitions: “Three‑Legged Race,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” and “United Efforts.” The “United Efforts” event—specifically the tug‑of‑war—reached the thrilling climax of our summer excursion. Each team brought its own unique style: some relied on sheer strength, others on imposing presence, and still others on skillful technique. Every member gave their all, shouting rallying cries with fervor, demonstrating an extraordinary sense of unity and cohesion. Following the completion of all activities, we held an awards ceremony, during which Team Four emerged victorious, claiming the championship.
After two days of sightseeing, all the guides were deeply moved: we are a well‑planned, disciplined team. To ensure everyone had a wonderful time, the event‑organizing team conducted thorough site visits in advance and crafted a carefully thought‑out itinerary. Moreover, the civility and exemplary conduct displayed by the guides during the trip earned high praise from both the travel agency and the local hosts. On the bus, participants conscientiously disposed of their trash and adhered to the schedule; following the closing briefing at Phoenix Mountain, the entire group even took the time to leave the square spotless. Each guide was able to unwind, connect with the wider guiding community, soak in the beauty of nature, and gain valuable experience—truly integrating these lessons into our motto of “Healthy Living, Happy Work.” It was an unforgettable, exhilarating summer of 2011!
