Ling Hang Group’s R&D Center is located in the Tianjin Base R&D Building and was put into operation in June 2017. It is a Industry 4.0–enabled smart R&D system, covering an area of 620 square meters and equipped with over 100 pieces of R&D equipment, including high-end analytical instruments and pilot-scale blending units. The center is primarily responsible for raw material incoming inspection at the factory, quality control throughout the production process, product R&D testing, and application improvement. It focuses on the application of innovative technologies for new products, process optimization, formulation refinement and validation studies tailored to diverse application needs, as well as industry–university–research collaboration.
In terms of its raw material system, Ling Hang Lubricant leverages a global procurement network to rigorously select premium base oils and high-end additive ingredients from around the world. Its base oils are carefully chosen from internationally advanced, triple‑hydrogenated isomerization‑dewaxed mineral oils and high‑quality synthetic oils, boasting core advantages such as a high viscosity index, low sulfur content, and low residual carbon value. At the same time, Ling Hang collaborates closely with world‑leading additive manufacturers—including Afton, Infineum, Chevron, Lubrizol, BASF, and Rhein Chemie—adhering to an innovation‑driven strategy, keeping pace with cutting‑edge international additive R&D technologies, and co‑creating solutions in close partnership with renowned domestic and international research institutions. Building on high-quality raw materials, the company has continuously invested in talent development and the accumulation of core technologies. In 2007, Mr. Huang Guoliang, a leading lubrication technology expert in the industry and a senior professor at the China Petrochemical Research Institute, officially joined Ling Hang Group, comprehensively strengthening the company’s research foundation and injecting strong momentum into the iteration of core technologies and the R&D of innovative products.
In May 2017, Ling Hang Lubricant joined forces with Harbin Institute of Technology to establish a dedicated R&D center, bringing together top-tier domestic experts in advanced technologies to form a professional R&D team. Professor Liu Yuyan, a doctoral supervisor from the School of Chemical Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology, and Professor Qu Jianjun, a doctoral supervisor from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, led an authoritative team of experts who took up residence to provide strategic support, marking a new stage of professionalization, high-end development, and systematization for Ling Hang Lubricant’s R&D framework.
The R&D center has been established to a high standard, featuring four major functional areas: a lubricant testing lab, a grease testing lab, a coolant testing lab, and a sample formulation room. With a total investment of 13 million yuan, the center has introduced over 40 sets of cutting-edge international precision testing instruments, including the American KANON CCS low-temperature dynamic viscosity tester, a high-end spectrometer, and the MRV low-temperature pumping viscosity tester. These resources have enabled the creation of a rigorous and comprehensive quality‑testing and formulation‑trial system. Backed by top-tier talent, state-of-the-art equipment, and scientifically sound standards, the center ensures the exceptional performance of every Ling Hang product.
Relying on a comprehensive R&D and testing system, Ling Hang has simultaneously built an industry-leading specialized grease production platform, achieving efficient commercialization of technological advances through an integrated R&D‑production model. Currently, Ling Hang’s grease division operates five grease production lines, all equipped with atmospheric-pressure reactors. One industrial lubrication line comprises five 6 m³ blending kettles; the other four lines feature twelve 3 m³ blending kettles, along with four pilot-scale reactors (three sets of 200 L and one set of 500 L). The company has also established a 400 m², Class 100,000 cleanroom grease manufacturing center and boasts the largest number of three-roll mills in northern China. Committed to becoming a leader in China’s bearing grease industry, Ling Hang primarily produces high-end silent‑bearing greases, extreme-pressure composite lithium-based greases, lithium-based greases, composite calcium sulfonate greases, specialty silicone greases, and fluorinated greases, with a designed annual capacity of 10,000 tons. Its products have earned consistent acclaim from users across the electric tools, bearing, automotive components, industrial robotics, and steel‑mining sectors.
Leveraging its comprehensive R&D and production strengths, Ling Hang continues to deepen its exploration of cutting-edge technologies. On August 24, 2024, Ling Hang jointly established the Organometallic Lubricant Research Lab with the Tianjin Institute of Advanced Equipment at Tsinghua University, with Associate Director Dai Yuanjing of the Lubrication Technology Research Institute serving as the lab’s director. The lab boasts a world-class research team and state-of-the-art experimental facilities, backed by a solid academic foundation and robust innovative capabilities. It has accumulated numerous research achievements and extensive practical experience in areas such as metal surface lubrication processes and mechanisms, as well as atomic‑level precision machining. Together, the two parties have developed the “2+2 Organometallic Anti-Friction Technology,” which integrates multiple advanced technologies—including nano‑oxidation‑resistant detergents and high‑temperature oil‑film stability—aimed at reducing friction and wear while enhancing energy transmission efficiency. Its unique ultra‑slip molybdenum fluid protective film structure can sustainably lower the coefficient of friction, delivering exceptional anti‑wear performance, long‑lasting protection, reduced noise, extended oil‑change intervals, and improved fuel economy.
