Fueling Life with Compassion: Yinhang Petrochemical’s Free Blood Donation Warms Early Winter

Abstract

Recently, the Daqing Blood Bank has faced an acute shortage of blood, once again drawing widespread public attention. Life depends on blood, and compassion calls for selfless giving. To help alleviate this critical blood‑supply crisis, Yinhang Petrochemical launched a “Voluntary Blood Donation: Fueling Life with Compassion” campaign among its employees. Participants responded enthusiastically—ranging from senior management and workshop workers to office staff—and even some sales representatives who brought clients to the company for site visits joined in, contributing their share of kindness and bringing a touch of warmth to this increasingly chilly winter.

On November 17, 2010, a self-organized blood-donation team of 23 employees from Yinhang Petrochemical gathered at the Daqing Central Blood Station. Dressed in uniform and marching in neat formation, they lined up in an orderly manner to undergo registration, medical screening, and sample collection for testing, showcasing the exemplary conduct of Yinhang staff and earning high praise from both blood‑station personnel and members of the public.

Director Xin of the Daqing Central Blood Station’s laboratory said excitedly, “The team from Yinhang is truly well‑organized, and it’s rare to see the general manager and deputy general managers personally taking part in such a public‑service activity. Our society desperately needs more people like you—kind‑hearted individuals—every day!” Our voluntary blood‑donation campaign has also attracted considerable media attention. General Manager Zhou Zhongcheng remarked, “Thank you very much. This was an initiative we organized on our own; there’s no need for any coverage.” Such a simple statement nonetheless reveals an entrepreneur’s strong sense of social responsibility. As members of the Yinhang team, we feel deeply honored and proud. By 3:00 p.m., the blood‑collection drive had concluded, with a total of over 8,000 milliliters collected.

Blood is the source of life and health.
