Abstract

The inaugural Northeast Gold‑Medal Driver Championship has reached its final day, with the long‑awaited rally kicking off at 10:00 a.m. on the 30th. The famed “Eighteen Bends” in Fangzheng serves as the venue for this rally, which spans a total of 22 kilometers. Scoring and rankings are determined across three classes: two‑wheel‑drive 1.6L, two‑wheel‑drive 2.0L, and four‑wheel‑drive. Drivers from the Yinhang Racing Team—Yang Tao, Wang Xiang, Han Xuefeng, and Cheng Zifeng—are competing in the two‑wheel‑drive 2.0L class, while Liu Bin is taking part in the four‑wheel‑drive category.

The natural curves and steep gradients of the Shibaigou section make it an ideal venue for rally racing. Spectators had gathered early at the finish line in Demoli, where No. 58—a red, custom‑tuned Honda Civic—shot forward like an arrow, its engine roaring as it executed a sharp drift into the straightaway. With the throttle wide open, it roared past, kicking up clouds of smoke as it sped toward the finish. This was Wang Xiang, the “Drift King” of the Yinhang Racing Team, a household name in rallying circles. Soon, he found himself surrounded by media, fellow drivers, fans, and onlookers, all eager to interview him and snap photos with the “Drift King” and his machine. Wang Xiang remarked that the track is perfectly suited to rally events; with his own race‑car technicians on hand and the generous support of Yinhang’s exclusive racing fuel, he was able to complete the course smoothly and effortlessly. Just as everyone was still basking in the joy of celebrating Wang Xiang, another Yinhang team car emerged from the finish line—its driver none other than Wang Xiang’s protégé, rookie racer Cheng Zifeng. True to form, the master’s influence shone through: Cheng displayed remarkable promise, powering through the Shibaigou course with confidence. As soon as star driver Liu Bin crossed the finish line, a recovery vehicle promptly towed his car away. Despite a brake issue, the seasoned veteran still posted a solid time in the four‑wheel‑drive class. An hour later, the second group set off from the start: Yinhang racers Yang Tao and Han Xuefeng, who had already competed in off‑road events, returned today to take on the rally challenge and vie for the championship title—the coveted “Northeast Gold Medal Driver.” Charging ahead with determination, they headed north, flawlessly concluding the final event of the three‑day competition.

The thrilling awards ceremony was held in the banquet hall of the Haigang Grand Hotel in Fangzheng County, hosted by Pan Guanglin, the initiator and organizer of the competition and a renowned driver. Li Yuanlong, deputy secretary-general of the Heilongjiang Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Association, and Wang Dongjiang, secretary-general of the Jilin Province Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Association, presented awards to the winning drivers and teams. With numerous top‑tier drivers joining the fray, the Yinhang Racing Team undoubtedly emerged as the biggest winner of this event. In each class, the top six finishers were recognized; in the 2.0L two-wheel-drive rally class, the Yinhang Racing Team swept the top three spots, with Wang Xiang taking first place, and Cheng Zifeng and Yang Tao claiming second and third, respectively. In the four-wheel-drive rally class, Liu Bin secured second place, while in the off‑road class, Liu Bin and Yang Tao from the Yinhang Racing Team finished third and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, all the co‑drivers of the winning racers were awarded “Top Ten Co‑Drivers” trophies. Thanks to its commanding lead and exemplary racing style, the Yinhang Racing Team was honored by the organizing committee with the “Civilized Team Award.” Based on the cumulative points from three days of off‑road preliminaries and finals, as well as the drivers’ regional affiliations—particularly those hailing from Northeast China—the Yinhang Racing Team’s driver Yang Tao ultimately clinched the title of the first-ever Northeast Gold Medal Driver, earning the well-deserved honor of “Northeast Gold Medal Driver”!
