Yet the lake’s most enchanting vista remains the famed “Three Pools Mirroring the Moon.” In the distance, the towering Leifeng Pagoda suddenly came into view, evoking the poignant love story of Xu Xian and Bai Suzhen… When the water shimmers in the sunshine, it is splendid; when the mountains are veiled in mist after rain, they take on an otherworldly charm. To compare West Lake to Xi Shi—whether lightly adorned or richly made up—it suits her just as well. It is precisely this very scene that has earned Hangzhou the reputation of being “Paradise on Earth.”
Having admired the breathtaking beauty of West Lake in Hangzhou, everyone made their way, under a gentle drizzle, to Wuzhen—known as the “Water Town.” Misty rain veils the scene, while whitewashed walls, black-tiled roofs, quaint little bridges, flowing streams, and traditional homes create an atmosphere of timeless simplicity and timelessness. The town’s unadorned charm, its weathered patina, and its pristine clarity have preserved intact the character and layout of this thousand-year-old water‑town.
