Abstract
Ling Hang's latest GF-5 certification certificate
This time, the products certified by Ling Hang under GF-5 include: Ling Hang No. 1 0W-20, 0W-30, and 5W-30; Ling Hang 9300 5W-30; Ling Hang 9000 5W-20 and 5W-30; Ling Hang 8300 5W-30; HydroClean H8 5W-30; HydroClean H7 5W-20 and 5W-30; and HydroClean H6 5W-30. These products represent that they have passed the current Lubricating oil It has received dual certification—SN and GF-5—from the industry’s two most authoritative organizations, API and ILSAC. Regarding GF-5 Certification
In fact, GF‑5 certification is currently the most stringent oil‑performance standard in the industry, with a high entry threshold: only oils that have earned SN certification are eligible to apply for GF‑5. Moreover, among SN‑grade oils, only 20–30% ultimately pass GF‑5 certification. Additionally, driven by the trend toward lower‑viscosity motor oils and GF‑5’s requirements for fuel efficiency, GF‑5 is limited to oils with viscosities of 30 or lower within the SN category.
GF-5 is a certification system with more stringent requirements than SN.
Compared to SN, GF-5 further improves fuel economy. GF-5 lubricants have introduced new engine tests to evaluate fuel economy. The minimum Fuel Economy Index (FEI) is at least 0.5% higher than that of GF-4‑grade oils in the same viscosity class. Oils meeting the GF-5 standard can help vehicles travel approximately 35 kilometers farther per tank of fuel, thereby effectively reducing emissions and protecting the environment.
Use GF-5 motor oil: Your car will go farther and consume less fuel.
Compared with SN, GF-5 offers stronger protection for the emission system and imposes stricter limits on pollutant emissions. The ILSAC GF‑5 oil specification imposes stringent limits on sulfur and phosphorus content: SN/GF‑5 oils must maintain phosphorus levels strictly between 0.06% and 0.08%; for 0W and 5W grades, sulfur must be capped at no more than 0.5%, while 10W oils must not exceed 0.6%. Oils with low sulfur and low phosphorus levels pose less risk to three-way catalytic converter aftertreatment systems, reduce engine corrosion, and lower emissions of harmful pollutants, thereby making a significant contribution to mitigating air pollution.
Use GF-5 oil: It’s more environmentally friendly and causes less corrosion to the engine and the three-way catalytic converter.
Compared with SN, GF-5 further enhances the oil’s detergency and dispersancy.
The SN/GF‑5 series oils have been developed with an added high‑temperature deposit test to evaluate their detergency performance. With respect to piston deposit limits, a rating of at least 4.0 is required to ensure that the SN/GF‑5 oils deliver superior high‑temperature cleanliness. Furthermore, to prevent the formation of low‑temperature sludge and varnish during short‑distance driving in cold conditions—where acidic byproducts and fuel dilution can exacerbate these issues—the SN/GF‑5 series has been further enhanced to improve its low‑temperature dispersancy.
Use GF-5 oil: less sludge and carbon buildup, cleaner engine.
